Service Description

Sat Nov 1st/ Sun Nov 2nd, 10am - 3pm. Join artist Rose Tsang in a two day workshop where participants will be introduced to methods for building sculptural forms from traditional basket weaving materials, like rattan reed. Students will also be introduced to utilizing found and foraged materials, like tree twigs, chopsticks, electronic cables, yarn, wire and tennis/badminton rackets. Workshop participants will start by building the skeletons using techniques such as twining, lashing, and random weave. On the second day, we will create the skins which cover the skeletons. For the skins, we will use mulberry paper, cement, animal gut, and acrylic paints. Students will create a variety of open and closed sculptural forms. These shapes reflect our memory of bodies, spaces, and objects, once buried and forgotten, now reimagined.
