ROSE TSANG

Rose Tsang is an artist whose practice moves between printmaking, sculpture, installation and mixed-media collage. Guided by the pull of memory and the unfolding of time, her work draws upon the language of the body — its anatomy, gestures, and echoes. Material is her compass: plant and animal, synthetic and organic, their tensions and harmonies brought into intimate dialogue.

Rose received her MFA in Art from the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) in 2023. From 2019 to 2021, she was an Artist-In-Residence at the Kala Art Institute in Berkeley, CA. Currently, she lives and works in Los Angeles.

"My work explores how memory is held physically—in the body, in inherited patterns, and in quiet, overlooked spaces. Through a process-based practice, I construct forms that simultaneously support and contain one another. Utilizing weaving as the anatomical scaffolding, I build structures where translucent, skin-like surfaces reveal both the interior and the exterior. This permeability mirrors the nature of memory: it is never entirely solid; it shifts, leaks, and reshapes over time. Intertwined and suspended, my forms exist in an ambiguous state of attachment, dependency, and exchange."
