Warp Faced Weaving: Rep, Color Blocking, and Distortion
Learn the magic of warp faced weaving on a four harness floor loom in this two day intensive!
Service Description
Warp Faced Weaving: Rep, Color Blocking, and Distortion 10:00-5:00 pm Saturday, March 28th + Sunday, March 29th, with extra working time outside of class. Learn the magic of warp faced weaving on a four harness floor loom in this two day intensive! Our main focus will be on rep weave, a weave structure which requires a densely spaced warp to create ribbed, color blocked surfaces. Participants will learn how to design an end-and-end warp which will enable them to create patterns when alternating thick and thin wefts. Once we've explored the possibilities with rep, we will learn how to distort the weft to create a honeycomb-like structure. Warp yarns will be provided, but students will be encouraged to bring their own weft materials to experiment with. This is an intermediate workshop for students who have experience setting up a floor loom. Extra studio time will be available for anyone who needs more time to finish their warp.
